Hampton Court Palace

We had a lovely family day out with Anna and Borrie to Hampton Court Palace.  The weather was amazing and just perfect for wandering around the gardens with an ice cream.
The Palace was built in 1514 for a friend of King Henry VIII, but when they fell out Henry moved in in 1529. We saw the 'Great Vine' planted in 1769, it is the in the guinness world records as being the oldest and largest grape vine in the world.
The day was topped off with a bbq at ours in the late afternoon sun.  As usual there were some antics with lighting the barbie; Nath frantically waving the lid, the use of nail polish remover and over cleaner all proved unsuccessful!  Borrie headed back to the supermarket to buy firelighters which worked wonders.  We had no way of beating the cream for dessert so we poured it into an empty fizzy bottle and took turns shaking it up.  Great idea until we realised we couldn't get it out again.  The bottle was cut in half to rescue the whipped cream inside.  My Dutch colleagues weren't too sure what they had got themselves into as it was their first kiwi bbq.
