Jodhpur

We arrived in the blue city of Jodhpur after an ok night train.  We met a man who is friends with the Maharaja and who has also met Prince Charles and Camilla.  He was nice and showed us photos of Jodhpur on his laptop to pass some time.  Jodhpur was painted blue as the blue can ward off mosquitos and also it is a colour of royalty as the Maharaja lives in the city.
We explored the fort where the Maharajas used to live and it was spectacular - very finite details. We also visited the palace where the current Maharaja lives.  We spent some time looking around the clock tower markets and had omelettes made for breakfast by some man who has been running his omelette shop for 40 years (recommended by lonely planet).
This afternoon we take a 4 hour train to Jaisalmer where we will spend three nights.  One of which we hope to do a desert safari and spend the night camping in the desert.  Luckily Jodhpur is not as hot as Delhi but we are worried about Jaisalmer as it is a desert city and lonely planet says it is hellishly hot in August.
Animals room the streets freely.  Growing up in a country with a lot of farming it is strange to me that animals live on the streets.  What do they eat?? No grass around, scraps of food from the road.  As a result of the animals in the street there is cow shit everywhere and the smell is not pleasant.  In Jodhpur we have seen cows, goats, donkeys and pigs.
